Finishing for Printed Media

The printed media are challenged by new communication tools. As a result, the graphic arts industry faces new challenges. Printed products must adapt to the very latest trends in order to claim their portion in the market. This means that we must create permanently new creative ideas, products and innovative service. Print finishing has a vital role to play in addressing these challenges.

Latest developments in the communications sector – more in particular in the area of digitalisation of production processes – have forced prepress, printing and postpress operations to continually adapt. Today, printed products must be more concisely targeted and able to communicate with consumers on a more personal level. Simultaneously, cost and time pressures continue to grow.

Sadle Stitching

Saddle stitching is one of the simplest binding techniques. It is also the most widely used. Folded signatures are placed over a "saddle" and then stapled along the spine. Several sheets of paper are folded (the fold becomes the spine of the booklet) and two or more staples are placed in the fold. This style of binding is excellent for booklets, brochures, newsletters, pamphlets, direct mailers and catalogs.
